JasonSomervillePRpicOn August 5th, FlopTurnRiver.com hosted one of the most famous poker players in the world, Jason Somerville, in its forums while the superstar answered questions during his exclusive, real-time AMA, or Ask Me Anything, event.

Somerville’s AMA was attended by an overwhelming number of inquisitive forum users and during the two-and-a-half hours the event continued, Jason answered many questions regarding a host of different topics which included his personal life, poker strategy and the future of online poker in America, among others.

Before Somerville’s AMA started, FTR’s visitors had already posted more than 60 challenging, personal and humorous questions for the phenom to answer.  Staying longer than any other of FTR’s previous AMA guests, Somerville provided thoughtful answers to as many inquiries as he could over the course of his event, including many of the questions visitors asked that were based on Somerville’s live responses to their original queries.

When asked about online poker in the US, Somerville revealed that he anticipates a bright future for the game when he responded, “I definitely think the best years are in front of us in the US for online poker. I’m not sure what it’s gonna look like, or when it’ll happen, but I’m confident that eventually sanity and logic will rule and we’ll be able to play online poker again from our homes in the US.”

In response to several questions about his personal life and decision to reveal himself as the only openly gay, high-stakes professional poker player, Somerville wrote, “I felt like remaining closeted wouldn’t be respectful to my boyfriend. I wanted to commit to our relationship fully, to not tiptoe around things, and generally felt to both maximize both my and our happiness.”

Only 26 years old, Somerville is an American professional poker player who has already established himself as one of the “Ones to Watch” for the World Poker Tour’s XI Season.  Perhaps best known for having already won a World Series of Poker bracelet, Somerville’s resume also includes fourteen additional “in the money” finishes in WSOP events, including three more appearances at WSOP final tables.  Somerville has also finished in the money in two WPT tournaments, including one impressive showing at a final table, as well as two EPT Tour tourneys.

In addition to being a skilled professional player, Somerville is also a highly sought after instructor of tournament play.  A respected member of PokerVT’s training team, Somerville teaches poker strategy to advanced players.  Somerville has also personally created a series of YouTube videos in which he discusses poker strategy; his creative videos are as entertaining as they are informative for beginning, intermediate and seasoned players.
